Seeking Mentor for IGF-DCAD 2025 Fellowship Program

The Internet Governance Forum Dynamic Coalition on Accessibility and Disability (IGF-
DCAD) is pleased to announce an opportunity for a Mentor to support the IGF-DCAD
Fellowship Program for IGF2025. This program is designed to empower individuals with
disabilities by facilitating their meaningful participation in IGF processes, fostering
inclusion, and promoting digital accessibility on a global scale.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to serve as a mentor to the
selected fellows. The mentor will play a crucial role in guiding the fellows throughout
their IGF journey, providing support in understanding IGF processes, and enhancing
their capacity to advocate for accessibility and disability rights in digital policy spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide mentorship to the IGF-DCAD fellows, offering guidance and support in
    preparation for IGF2025.
  2. Assist fellows in understanding IGF processes and engaging effectively in
    discussions and sessions.
  3. Share insights and best practices with the fellows in digital accessibility and
    disability inclusion within the context of Internet governance.
  4. Serve as a member of the Fellowship Selection Committee to help evaluate and
    select fellows for the program.
  5. Actively participate in IGF2025, supporting fellows in person during the event.
  6. Monitor fellows’ progress, provide feedback, and report on their activities and
    achievements during the fellowship program.
  7. Collaborate with the DCAD Coordinator(s) to ensure the fellows’ successful
    integration into the IGF ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Digital Accessibility: Demonstrated expertise in digital accessibility
    and/or disability inclusion, with a strong understanding of accessibility principles,
    tools, and best practices.
  • Understanding of IGF Processes: Comprehensive knowledge of IGF structures,
    processes, and dynamics, including active participation in previous IGFs or
    related Internet governance events.
  • Fellowship and Mentoring Experience: Previous experience as an IGF fellow or
    participation in similar fellowship programs, along with proven experience in
    mentoring or coaching individuals in professional or capacity-building settings.
  • Experience in Progress Monitoring: Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate
    individual progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare concise reports
    on fellows’ activities and achievements.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: A strong commitment to promoting accessibility, equity,
    and inclusion in Internet governance and policy spaces.
  • Collaboration and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and
    communication skills to effectively engage with fellows, the IGF-DCAD team, and
    other stakeholders, ensuring a supportive and productive environment.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple
    responsibilities effectively, including mentoring, reporting, and participating in IGF
    activities.
  • Lived Experience: Preference will be given to qualified individuals with lived
    experience of disability to bring authentic perspectives to the mentorship role.

Note: This is a voluntary position; however, significant time commitment is expected
before and during IGF2025 to fulfill mentoring, reporting, and selection responsibilities.
Reasonable expenses for in-person travel to IGF2025 may be reimbursed upon
request, subject to prior approval.
